Anchor Julie Dolan joined the WLKY morning news team in January 2017. She returns to Kentucky after two years on the air at WCPO in her hometown of Cincinnati.
“Ohio is home, but Kentucky won my heart,” says the newlywed who is eager to join her husband in his hometown, Louisville.? The two met in Lexington, where Julie previously worked as a morning anchor at WLEX from 2012-2014. Prior to that, Julie worked in the Evansville market for five years, often reporting in Western Kentucky.
In 2012 Julie was named a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Steve Beshear for outstanding community service. In 2014, Julie’s peers nominated her for an Associated Press Broadcasting award; she was named the second best TV news anchor in Kentucky. “It was an honor to be recognized for my professional work, but it’s the community service work I find most rewarding.” In 2011, Julie was named Volunteer of the Year by the Boys & Girls Club of Evansville after starting a summer broadcasting program for a select group of students. Throughout her career Julie has been invited to sit on charitable boards and committees including The Ronald McDonald House, CASA, the Salvation Army, the Girl Scouts of SW Indiana and most recently People Working Cooperatively, based in Cincinnati. Julie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Media Studies from the College of Charleston in South Carolina.
Julie’s husband, Andy, is a structural engineer and partner at Brown & Kubican, PSC. He recently opened an office in Louisville and is working on several large projects including the downtown convention center.
